The Corally/STCC Championship 2010.....
Team Corally, who provide the main prizes for the top three overall championship class winners, have also agreed to provide 8 Corally Touring Car kits as the FTD draw prizes, one for each of the rounds of the 2010 STCC. This is a fantastic gesture by Corally and shows the loyalty and huge support that the Team Corally factory have for the Championship and all the drivers who support it........

Round 2 took place this weekend at the Southend Club track. Renowned for being one of the most technical and unforgiving tracks going. It is fast, undulating and a challenge to string a complete round of laps together and be quick, as many a driver finds out. We were also using the new Team Corally 10.5 Pro/RED Series motor and running in the TC2 class (10.5T).
What a weekend, and a brilliant race day it was though........
Saturday, informal practice was under blue skies, and a hot sun, with a lot of track time going on. Arrived at the track Sunday morning to be greeted with overcast grey skies, first round of qualifying took place on a dry and very fast track, the 13.5 class track record got smashed by Jon Holloway with an 18/313.90, then it started to rain, then it started to absolutely pour it down while the top 10.5 drivers were out - brilliant, not!!! Proceedings were temporarily halted while we considered the situation, we decided to suspend the clock for approx 75 mins to allow the standing water clearance and the track surface to dry out - what an excellent job was done by the club.
I did consider dropping one final, but wanted to keep the racing as fair as possible since only one heat had been disadvantaged so after some quick calculations that we could still complete the full schedule, if we shortened the lunch break, we then restarted the clock and racing completed under a warm sun and dry track for the remainder of the day, and what an excellent day it was. The racing was so close and really fast, with leads swapping back and forth and some really close stuff, lap after lap after lap - so close that in all my years of racing it was the first time I have ever seen an absolute dead heat using the AMB timing for one final, then everyone went quiet after the initial cheers waiting for the official result from the timekeeper - a dead heat, absolutely brilliant racing by the drivers Mark Fuller and Bryan Loynes.
Congratulations to the Corally drivers, Mark Fuller - 3rd (TC2), Gary Sims - 4th (TC2) and Adam Pryke - 5th (TC2). Well done guys.
The next meeting is in 2 weeks time at the super big, super fast Brookland track.......
